Well, Mike and I attended our "Prepared Childbirth" class this past weekend. Overall, I have to say it wasn't too bad. The instructor was pretty funny so that helped make it less painful. Plus, we had some pretty interesting people watching which had Mike and I chuckling. There are some interesting people out there!
I wasn't sure what to expect with the class, but was very happy it wasn't all trying "birthing postures", rolling around on a birth ball and the "do I have to pretend to do this in front of these strangers?" kind of stuff. Of course the highlight was them teaching Mike massage/touch to help during the labor process. I enjoyed some hand and back massages! All and all, it was a pretty informative class and not too embarrassing. Now we at least have some of the basic knowledge and "what to expect" stuff down.
After the class, I went to the New Kids and Backstreet Boys concert at Fenway. I have to say, it was pretty sweet!!! It basically was an all girls event (although there were a few husbands dragged to the concert who after a few beverages were getting right into the choreographed moves). It was a good time though! And concerts at Fenway are just a neat experience. Thank God for covered seats in that ridiculous rain though! (Thank you Paul/Sue for the hookup in the State Street Pavilion!)
Next up, is getting through nightshifts all this week to a very exciting upcoming weekend! Mike and I are getting really excited about the baby shower on Saturday!! It's crazy it's already here! We're excited to see everyone and also feel like we're really set and ready for the arrival! It's hard not to have baby on the brain these days. But as each week passes, every appointment goes by, every gift that arrives to the house... it's hard not to! The excitement is building and getting more and more real. We really can't wait! I did make a vow not to talk JUST baby with friends and family, so I'll stop the ooey gooey mushy stuff now :)
I'll end with a little birth comic cartoon:
um.... Epidural STAT please!!!!!
