Moira Cecile Dube (pronounced "more-a") was born on August 10th at 7:03pm weighing 5lbs 12 oz (sorry, I guess no one was right on the survey!) and a length of 18 inches.
Behind the name: Moira (Irish spelling) just because we both really liked it- not an out there name, but also not that common of a name that there will be 5 other Moira's in her class. It was not initially on either of our lists, but when we stumbled across it, we both really liked it and that was it! Cecile is after Mike's grandmother whom he was very close to.
I went into labor Tuesday night but had to wait it out at home until the contractions got closer. We headed to hospital around 4am Wed AM and they admitted me and placed the epidural right away. It was a long long day and unfortunately, Miss Moira gave us some trouble. Her heart rate kept dipping due to being wrapped up in her cord so it was a constant battle all day with repositioning and monitoring her. I won't get into too many details since the important thing is that she arrived safely. My epidural also fell out with all the repositioning when I was 9.5cm dilated- I thought I was going to die! Who gives birth without an epidural? (only crazy people!) Thankfully, they were able to replace it before pushing but I got a glimpse of the other side, and I'll tell ya... it wasn't pretty! Mike was amazing in the delivery room and was an excellent "coach". He did a great job keeping me calm and encouraging me through out the whole day.
After all was said and done after almost 24 hours of labor, our beautiful baby daughter arrived happy and healthy. A bit smaller then we all expected- the doctor was even shocked! But at her weight check today she was already up to 6lbs! Her clothes are all swimming on her- it's pretty comical!
Since being home, things are a bit crazy- as our doc put it this morning... it's like groundhog day in 3 hour increments. She is doing great feeding and besides a little bit more crankiness in the evenings, she is doing great and we are enjoying all the snuggling and kissing. She is getting up once over night (granted she has a late bedtime). Although a bit sleep deprived... we are surviving. She's had lots of visitors and still tons more of you to meet!
Thank you for all the wonderful messages and well wishes! Thanks for all the wonderful gifts and flowers! And thank you to those who have made some meals for us! The meals have been life savers when trying to eat on the fly!
